Moments before the announcement of the cancellation I had put up an article raising the question of whether because of comparability between the events the Nets and Barclays owners would be asked to contribute to hurricane relief as the marathon runners had been requested to: Friday, November 2, 2012, Bloomberg Asks Runners In Now Controversial Marathon to Donate To Hurricane Relief: Will Similar Request Be Made Concerning Nets Game?
Right now in connection with the cancellation of the marathon people are saying that a sports event cannot take precedence over the recovery efforts.
